Grafton Little League's Senior Division All Stars Advance to State Final

Grafton Little League's Senior Division All Stars beat Swansea earlier today 7-2 in the state semifinals to advance to the state final on Sunday against Stoneham at Greenbrier Park in Oxford at 1:00 pm..
 
Grafton improves to 16-2 on the season. The team is made up of 15 and 16 year old players, all of whom have been playing in Grafton Little League since they were five years old in tee ball. Grafton played Stoneham earlier in the tournament and suffered a 8-0 loss. Stoneham goes into the state final undefeated without giving up any runs.
 
In its semifinal win over Swansea, Grafton's James Springer pitched 6 shutout innings to earn the win. Luc Galvani pitched the 7th inning to earn the save. Swansea would threaten to score in each of the first three innings to no avail. In the third, Swansea would load the bases with one out on a a base hit, an error and walk. Springer would strike out a Swansea batter for the second out and then a heady play by catcher Ryan Eddy and Springer would cut down a run at the plate to keep the game scoreless. On a wild pitch by Springer, the runner from third tried scoring. Eddy raced to the backstop, fired a strike to Springer covering the plate to cut down the runner on a close play. In the fourth inning the first two Swansea batters would reach base before Springer would pick off a runner on second base for the first out. A batter would reach on an error and the next batter hit a hard ground ball that ricocheted off the pitcher's rubber directly to Sean Palmer near second base starting a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. Swansea would start a late two out rally in the 7th inning off reliever Galvani before Eddy would throw out a runner trying to steal third to end the game.
 
Grafton's offense would get going in the bottom of the third inning breaking a scoreless tie scoring four runs. Luc Galvani would lead off with a walk and then steal second. The next two batters would be retired before centerfielder Jayce Keeler delivered an RBI single giving Grafton a 1-0 lead. Keeler would steal second and score on Palmer's base hit. Palmer would advance on a past ball. Tyler Prout would walk and Palmer would score on a Springer base hit. Prout would eventually score on a past ball and Grafton would end up leading 4-0 after 3 innings. They would tack on 2 more runs in the fourth inning as Nate Remillard and Keeler would walk and eventually score making it 6-0. Springer would score Grafton's final run in the sixth inning.
